Au Noord, c'était les Coraux.

Est arrivée il y a quelques jours dans ma boîte aux lettres la newsletter de The Coral dont voici la substantifique moëlle :

Work on The Invisible Invasion began back at the start of last year. Produced by Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley (he of Portishead authority), the band hired a house in the Lake District for two weeks and rehearsed the 18 possible songs for the album, tweaking and developing them there, before they were ready to set them to acetate.

The first single to be taken from the album will be entitled In The Morning and will be released on the 9th of May, followed by the band's new album on the 23rd.

Je ne vous en parle qu'aujourd'hui car, dans le forum ('Community') consacré au groupe sur son site officiel, se trouve depuis hier un lien vers un mp3 du nouveau single.

Après quelques écoutes, je suis un peu perplexe. Le tempo est bon enfant et la mélodie tellement limpide qu'elle en devient presque transparente. Comme de plus le C(h)oriste en chef James Skelly chante un détachement qui flirte avec le je-m'en-foutisme, j'ai vraiment beaucoup de mal à éprouver quoi que ce soit pour cette chanson qui rentre par une oreille pour ressortir directement par l'autre sans passer par la case 'cerveau'. Je suppose qu'on pourrait dire qu'il s'agit d'un morceau printanier sans prétention, destiné à être chantonné le sourire aux lèvre en regardant pousser les bourgeons. Peut-être mais je crois que j'aurais préféré un peu plus de relief, d'engagement du groupe dans sa propre musique. J'espère que tout l'album ne sera pas dans la même veine, ce que les déclarations du groupe pourraient malheureusement laisser craindre.

This record is all the best bits of all our previous albums rolled into one. We also wanted an album we could play live in comparision to the last one. It's a lot warmer-sounding, we wanted the first few records to sound the way they did, with more treble, but this time we wanted to explore something new.
